Four fanatics playing five hours of golf together has the potential of plenty travails of misery

“The definition of a fanatic is someone who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.”

Winston Churchill

Four fanatics playing five hours of golf together has the potential of plenty travails of misery. Unless they all are fanatics for Christ; a movie star from Alabama, a professional golfer from Missouri, a sports missionary from Detroit and a degenerate gambler from Tennessee all who can’t stop talking about Jesus! “…for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20

Chris Johnson, Tom Randall, Lucas Black, Chuck DeWald

Lucas Black has a very successful resume of 30 years in film and television since age 11.

He drove fast cars in Tokyo Drift, was a detective in NCIS: New Orleans, played quarterback in Friday Night Lights, and even played a soldier, a cowboy, and even an autistic piano prodigy.

My favorite is Seven Days in Utopia where Lucas plays a struggling golf pro who overcomes failure because of his faith.

But more importantly Lucas is a fanatic for Christ. Bringing Lucas to my meetings was inspirational for all the men.

“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17.

Chris Johnson is a professional golfer, golf instructor, and entrepreneur.

He generously organized a membership at the Marriot Resort Course in Orlando for me to speak and teach golfers from such places as Korea, Philippines, Argentina, France, Canada, and more.

It feels like the United Nations of golf! Chris organizes for me to speak and play at tournaments in Central Florida as well. “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20

Chuck DeWald

The Fanatic Foursome is completed by my dear friend, Chuck DeWald, who describes himself as a “short, fat, dumb, hillbilly from Tennessee”.

Though he lacks a formal education he is one of the cleverest men I know with heaps of common sense and wisdom by the grace of God.

Chuck built a successful and unique business drying out buildings that have been flooded or storm damaged. He developed some unique machines that drove his business to success.

They actually pay this “dumb hillbilly from Tennessee” to teach his unique and proven technique to each company employee sent his way.

I call him my Professor of Evaporation!

He was a bookie and Vegas gambler who won and lost a lot of money, but he has been transformed by the power of God! To have a logistics expert organizing all my speaking arrangements in Naples is priceless. And yes, we love to be the best dressed when we partner in golf tournaments.

Four different men from different backgrounds, skill sets, ages, and training with the same passion for Jesus makes a terrific Fanatic Foursome!

Today is the 8th anniversary of my grateful release from a Philippine prison and another reason I can’t stop talking about Jesus.

“I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel…” Philippians 1:12

Fanatics for Jesus,
